Game 30: Braves lose 5-1 to Cubs

Rough night for the Braves as Notre Dame Wide Receiver  Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija was on point all night, allowing just five hits and one run in seven innings. Tommy Hanson had a pretty decent night as well (6 IP, 5H, 2 ER) but gave up back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the fourth, and that was all the Cubs needed.

Just before those, Jason Heyward sent a shot to right field that jumped off his bat like he had hit the ball 450 feet. Alas, the Chicago wind was blowing in and it barely made it out of the park, but regardless he definitely kilt’it, in the words of Shane Sparks. Fangraphs WPA chart and game recaps below…
